William F. Krol (November 13, 1936-January 29, 2025)
William (Bill) was the oldest of 10 children born to Ann and Stanley Krol of Chicago. Survived by wife Jeannette O'Leary Krol; children Cindy (Don Lear), Wendy (Mike Jessep), Stan (Liz), and John (Mandy); grandchildren Christy, David (Catherine Galgano) and Drew Lear, Benjamin and Hannah Jessep, Virginia Peyton and J.J. Krol; step-granddaughter Zoey, siblings Virg Villa, Jane Yaras, Jim Krol, Vicki Villa and Annette Bogolin as well as many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by siblings; Ed Krol, Jeri Crittenden, Stanley Krol and Patti Krol.
Upon completing B.S. in Biology and M.S. degrees at the University of Chicago, and a Ph.D. at Johns Hopkins in Mathematical Statistics, he worked at The University of Maryland Medical School as an Assistant Professor. He went on to join Clinical Trials Studies and Research Development at Maryland Medical Research Institute. Later he developed protocols and oversaw clinical trials at the VA Co-operative Studies Program at Perry Point, Maryland.
Bill was active in many Polish community organization; founding member of the Trojaki Dance Circle (later Oycyzna), writer of the charter and by-laws and Chairman of the National Katyn Memorial Foundation, Treasurer at Polish Home, St. Mikolaj (St. Nicholas) at Holy Rosary Christmas celebrations, Lajkonik (legendary folk-figure) at Polish festivals and for a time church corporator. Bill loved teaching others about Polish heritage and history. He also loved to dance.
Declining health precipitated living at Roland Park Place beginning February of 2023.
Visitation at Kaczorowski Funeral Home on Saturday, February 8th from 10-noon followed by a prayer and remembrance service and interment at St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Flowers appreciated, no lilies or roses please.
