Thomas A. Penkilo, originally from Baltimore, Maryland, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 17, 2024, after a brief illness. Thomas was born on February 27, 1936, to parents John and Agnes Penkilo.
Thomas was a devoted Catholic. He attended St Casimir’s Roman Catholic School in Highlandtown, Maryland. He servedSt Casimir’s Church in his youth as an altar server and then later in life as an usher. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus Council # 2521 for 50 years where in June 2013 he was recognized for his loyal and faithful service. Tom’s successful career included working 14 years in the reference library of the News American newspaper. While he was clipping and storing articles, he memorized dates, names and baseball stats. He often had a story involving events he remembered. The Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens were his teams. Watching these teams brought him much happiness. He could always tell you how his team was doing-- spouting off some interesting fact that happened. In 1988 Tom started working for Baltimore County as a messenger in their government offices. Working for 10 years till his retirement, he loved his job and the people he worked with.
Upon retirement, Tom remained in Maryland till March of 2022 when he moved to Texas. Family was important to him, so he came to Coppell, Texas to be with his niece and nephew’s family. Tom was a resident of Christus St Joseph Village. He enjoyed the friends he made and loved being able to attend mass daily at the chapel onsite. He became a part of a wonderful community. To remember Tom, a dedication mass will be held Monday, August 26th at 10am in the chapel.
