Robert Saynuk, of Frederick Maryland, passed peacefully, on 4 February 2022, surrounded by family. He was 77 years old.
The youngest of 5 siblings, Robert Saynuk was born 14 September 1944, in Baltimore Maryland, to Alexander Saynuk and Alexandra (Toczylowski) Saynuk. They lived near Patterson Park in Baltimore and were active members of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. The Saynuks took regular trips to visit family in Scranton Pennsylvania.
During one of those trips to Scranton, the young Robert met Katherine Swanek. They dated extensively during their youth but lost touch when he joined the United States Air Force to serve during the Vietnam War. They were reunited twenty years later and were married 2 July 1987. Robert and Kathy proceeded to spend the remainder of their time together tripping the light fantastic; socializing and dancing their way across Great Britain and the eastern shore.
Robert continued to serve his country by working for the National Security Agency. He also gave his time to the local chapter AARP, American Legion, Moose Lodge, Elks, and anywhere he and Kathy could cut a rug. Robert also participated in dart leagues in England and bowling leagues in both England and Maryland.
A firm supporter of his family and especially his sons; Robert was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America, joined the boys in learning martial arts, and even helped to establish the South Carroll Swim Club, in Carroll County Maryland, in order to support his son’s love of swimming.
Robert was preceded in death by both of his parents as well as his brother Joseph Saynuk, and sister Marcella (Saynuk) Gizinski. He is survived by his wife Katherine (Swanek) Saynuk, son Robert A. Saynuk and daughter-in-law Erin (Baker) Saynuk, son Thomas W. Saynuk and daughter-in-law Patricia (Long) Saynuk.
