Rita Appel

On July 20, 2024 Rita V. Appel, beloved wife of the late Edward O. Appel, dear sister of the late John Swann; Jerome Swann and wife Delores, William Swann Jr. and wife Sally, loving mother to Kathryn Oakes, Donna Deans, Denise Lesniewski and husband Stephen, and the late Edward(Little Eddie) Appel. Grandmother to Kimberly Booker (Jay), Audrey Kightlinger (Mark), Nicole Murphy ( Kevin), Bryanna Axton, Karen Trulear (Greg), Ashley Koenig, Brittany Bell, and Sarah Lesniewski. Also survived by 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, plus nieces, nephews, and many friends from The Falls.

Rita was originally from East Baltimore ( St. Elizabeth’s )but relocated to Ormond Beach, Florida 27 years ago where she made her home along with her husband Eddie, until his passing in 2007. Rita continued to reside in Florida amongst all her friends in the Retirement Community of The Falls enjoying all of the amenities and activities that The Falls offered. She was active in running the bingos and some other activities in the clubhouse. She was well-liked by all. She would make annual trips to Maryland to visit all of her family and grandchildren which she enjoyed immensely.

After her stroke in May, she spent a month in hospitals and rehab centers until she was relocated to Selbyville, Delaware where she spent her remaining time.

Viewing will be at Kaczorowski’s Funeral Home, P.A., on Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Christian Services will take place at 5:00 PM on Saturday.  Interment is private.
