Patricia Mary Dwyer
1953 - 2019
Patricia Mary Dwyer, a resident of Perry Hall, MD and Sandwich, MA, passed away on July 12th while gardening at her Perry Hall home. Her patience, empathy, and diligence touched the lives of countless students and numerous colleagues over her 35 year career as a Special Education teacher in the Baltimore County Public Schools.
She was devoted to her profession, and to the many students who she taught and guided over the years at Pine Grove Middle School, Owings Mills and Loch Ravel High Schools. Despite the onset of heart disease, she diligently pursued her career, including doing part-time student assessments after retirement in 2015. Always generous with her time, Trisha played an active role in service organizations around Baltimore County, including Delta Kappa Gamma, the International Society for Key Women Educators. She remained active in the Loch Raven Retirees group, the Baltimore County Teachers and TABCO Retirees Associations, the Owing Mills “Fab Five”, the local Red Hat Ladies, and the Perry Hall and other book clubs. She also enjoyed traveling to visit relations around the country and abroad.
Much beloved, she will be sorely missed and long remembered by her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Katherine Dwyer of Pocasset, MA, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, long-time neighbors, and life-long friends.
She much loved the companionship of her two cats, Callie and Rascal, who will be adopted together by a friend of Robert and Katherine on Cape Cod.
A celebration of her life and legacy will be held at the Sparrows Point Country Club (Wise Avenue, Dundalk) at noon on Saturday, July 27. A luncheon themed on Trish’s favorite foods will be served. To assist in planning, those wishing to attend should send an email by Wednesday July 24 to CociaTrisha@gmail.com.
A private Funeral Mass for the family will be celebrated in the fall on Cape Cod. Later, her remains will be committed to sea offshore of Sandwich, in distant sight from the family home.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Maryland SPCA (www.mdspca.org) or a cat rescue agency, to the Maryland Food Bank (www.mdfoodbank.org ), or the American Heart Association (see: www.heart.org).
