Mary Margaret (Cooney) Little

LITTLE, Mary M. (nee Cooney) passed away on November 7 after a long illness. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Virgil N. Little, and both of their sons, Michael J. Little and Stephen G. Little. Mary was the daughter of Albert and Mary Cooney and the sister of Albert (Bud) Cooney, all deceased.  A life long resident of Hampden, "Mrs. Mary" was a crossing guard for 38 years. For 36 of those years she was posted on the corner of Chestnut Avenue and W. 36th St. (The Avenue).  During her career, she crossed three generations of students, many from the same families. Her love of people, especially children, endeared her to everyone who knew her. Mrs. Little is survived by her devoted niece, Mary Beth Belz; her sister, Shirley Belz; several sisters-and brothers-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
