Jeannette Dolores (Derencz) Bolewski, 90, gained her heavenly wings on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Gilchrist Center in Towson.
Born to Joseph and Anne Derencz on September 4, 1932, Jeannette grew up in Canton, attended St. Casimir's School, and graduated from St. Michael's Business School.
Jeannette met her love Stanley Bolewski at a social gathering in their city neighborhood in the late 1940s. As active military, Stanley was stationed in Germany, and shortly thereafter, the young couple were married in 1951. Jeannette and Stanley moved from Canton to Colgate in Baltimore County in 1953 and welcomed their first daughter later that year. They had four children within nine years. Jeannette stayed home with the children while Stanley served as a stevedore at the Port of Baltimore. After twelve years of marriage, Jeannette suddenly lost her husband in a work accident, and independently raised her children.
Once her youngest child was in high school, Jeannette went to work at her local market Zannino's as a cashier. She began a career in billing at Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1980s and retired at the age of 65. She continued at the Bayview location of the health system as a volunteer in the gift shop for twelve years.
Jeannette was a faithful woman and a loyal parishioner at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Dundalk. As a structured and routined woman, she enjoyed reading the newspaper daily, participating in weekly aerobic classes, attending Saturday evening mass followed by trips to Hecht Company and the pizza shop, and taking long neighborhood walks each Sunday. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and always welcomed new recipes. She appeased her sweet tooth with snowballs and ice cream and loved chocolate nonpareils - even until the very end. Jeannette spent much time in her flower and vegetable gardens. In quiet hours, she liked reading, cross stitching, and completing word search puzzles.
Jeannette was predeceased by her mother and father, brother Joseph Denerncz, sisters Marie Derencz DeFrank and Dorothy Derencz Zarachowicz.
She will be lovingly remembered by those she leaves behind including her children Diane (Bolewski) Fischer, Janice (Bolewski) Frost, Maureen (Bolewski) Nichols, and Kenneth Bolewski; grandchildren Clint Nichols, Natalie (Nichols) Van Buskirk, Nicole (Nichols) Halsey, and Jennifer Fischer; great grandchildren Connor Van Buskirk, Gavin Halsey, Cooper Van Buskirk, Tessa Halsey, Scarlett Van Buskirk, Zachary Halsey, Jodi Miller, and Jakee.
