Jean Polinara Christina Pula, December 28, 1961 - May 24, 2023. A lifelong resident of Fell's Point and Canton, Jean was a graduate of Holy Rosary Elementary School and Seton High School. An accomplished painter, she studied at the Maryland Institute of Art and Conrad-Miller Studio. She worked at several legal firms and served Baltimore City as an assistant to Councilman John Cain and then to Councilman Jim Kraft. Most recently, Jean worked for Dyslexia Tutoring Program, whose mission is to work with low-income children and adults who are dyslexic or have a language-based learning disability. With her late husband Greg Reillo, she previously owned and operated Wordmaster (later "Pagemaster"), an early word-processing business.
An ardent community activist, Jean served as president of the Hampstead Hill Association, was a member of Friends of Patterson Park and Friends of the Enoch Pratt Free Library, and performed at Creative Alliance. She was proud to be crowned "Mistress of Smut" in the Alliance's 2022 competition.
Jean was dedicated to Baltimore's Polish community. She danced with and later chaperoned for the Krakowiaki Dancers. She also danced with Tysiace Lat. Jean was active in Polish National Alliance Council 21, and Polish Home Club. At the time of her death, she was President of the Polish Heritage Association of Maryland.
Jean was predeceased by her parents, Robert P. Pula and Irena Jaroszewska Pula, and her brother, Victor C. Pula. She is survived by loving sisters Claire, Edith, Ramona, and Eva, and a host of nieces, nephews, and a large extended family. Jean is also survived by her devoted partner of many years, Dennis Moore.
A funeral Mass will be offered on June 24 at 9:30am at Holy Rosary Church, 408 S. Chester Street, Baltimore MD. A gathering will follow at Polish National Alliance Hall, 1627 Eastern Avenue.
Donations in Jean's memory may be made to the Polish Heritage Association of Maryland Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 20119, Baltimore MD 21286.
Interment of ashes is private. Kaczorowski Funeral Home, P.A. is in charge of arrangements.
