Donald Edward Hall, Sr.

January 23, 1934 — May 1, 2020

On Friday May 1st Donald Hall, Sr. of Dundalk Maryland passed peacefully surrounded by his children at Johns Hopkins Bayview Center after a long struggle with COPD.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years Erna Hall, (nee Stinebaugh) and brother Robert Hall Sr. He is survived by his sister Elizabeth Dodge, son Donald Hall, Jr. and his wife Cynthia, son Brian Hall, daughter Melissa Taylor and her fiancé Jim Morehouse, and son Gary Hall.  Family also included 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

He served for 4 years and was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force.  He married the love of his life Erna Stinebaugh in 1966 and was a devoted father to their four children.  He worked at Bethlehem Steel for 33 years before retiring.  He was known for his love of muscle cars, bad puns, quick wit, and easy going temperament.  Mr. Hall had a great knowledge of Baltimore area sports, especially the Orioles and Ravens.  He also had a great affinity for word games, in particular difficult crossword puzzles.

Still, his greatest passion was his family.  He will be missed particularly in his role as father, grandfather, and friend.  Although he is gone in body, his spirit survives in the many lessons he taught us, including the value of family, work ethic, compassion, and forgiveness. This is a legacy that will not be silenced by his passing.

There will be a memorial service for Mr. Hall at a future date after covid restrictions have been lifted
