Charles “Ricci” Southerly passed away on October 20th, 2021 at the age of 75, in his hometown of Dundalk, Maryland. His battle with cancer in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Ricci came out a hero and stayed strong until the end, dying peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
Ricci was known for his stories, and had the ability to find humor in any situation. He remained steadfast in the face of all adversity and inspired his family and friends to do the same. He was always an artist at heart, and enjoyed many hobbies including oil painting and drawing. He also loved music, food and couldn’t live without his furry canine companions. He loved all his neighbors and would do anything for them, including sharing his dinner creations and doing yardwork when needed.
Ricci was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Catherine, and his sister Carla. He is survived by the love of his life, Joann, their son Brian, and his daughter-in-law Ashley, with whom he enjoyed a special connection. In addition to being a wonderful husband and father, Ricci was beloved by his siblings, and is survived by three brothers, Jerry, David and Frank, two sisters, Charlene and Darlene, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ricci will be honored in a celebration of life on November 6th, 2021 at Kaczorowski’s Funeral Home. Visiting hours are from 11am – 2pm, with a short spiritual service starting at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
Following the celebration of life, the family will also host a wake at one of Ricci’s favorite restaurants, Jimmy’s Famous Seafood, from 3pm – 6pm. Please join us in honoring Ricci’s memory by doing what he liked to do best: eat and celebrate!
