Annie (Russo) Spruill

Mrs. Annie Spruill, 99, passed away on February 9, 2023, in Baltimore City, Maryland.

Mrs. Annie Spruill was born on September 16, 1923 in Baltimore, MD, to Augustine Russo and Carmilla Franco. She was the youngest of five children, Michael, Anthony, John and Mary Russo.

While Annie never finished formal education, she pursued a career as a seamstress and went on to work for over 50 years in the clothing manufacturing industry that included The Hecht Co. and Joseph A Banks.

Annie married Charles Bongiovano on October 20, 1950 in Baltimore County, MD. The couple had 3 children, Michael Charles Bongiovano, Samuel John Bongiovano and Joseph Anthony Bongiovano. Annie was remarried to John W. Spruill on July 24, 1972 in Baltimore City, MD. Both of her husbands were seaman. Annie lived and worked in the Baltimore City and County areas all of her life.

Annie was best known for her sewing, craft needlework, cooking and the love she had for her 3 children, 4 grandsons and 5 great grandchildren.

Annie is survived by her 2 sons Samuel Bongiovano and his wife Linda of New Freedom, PA and Mike Bongiovano and his wife Ann of Dundalk, MD, as well as 4 grandsons, George Bongiovano and his wife Beth of Hamilton, VA and their 4 children Grace, Adam, Gloria and Eliana; Joseph Bongiovano and Toyshika of Beltsville, MD and his daughter Leah Renea Bongiovano, Anthony Bongiovano and his wife Lauren of Boise, Idaho and Donald Bongiovano of Harrisburg, PA.

Annie is preceded in death by Augustine Russo - father, Carmilla Franco - mother, Charles Bongiovano(spouse), John W Spruill(spouse) and Joseph Anthony Bongiovano (son).

Services for Mrs. Annie Spruill will be private.
